Subjects This Semester

Hello readers! Honestly, I am pretty lazy to do anything this semester break. I just want to stay at home, watch tv and eat! That would be the perfect break for us university students. Unfortunately, I still have one task due this week which is my fourth entry for BEL311, subjects I am taking this semester. Well, altogether there are seven subjects I am taking this semester, which are CTU241, BAB101, BEL311, ECO211, FIN262, QMT216 and HKB112. So this week I would like to brief everyone on these seven subjects I am currently taking.

Firstly, CTU241 which stands for 'Asas Ekonomi Islam'. This is an Islamic related subject which require 2 credit hours. The syllabuses in this subject are related to Islamic's economy since ages ago until now. Islamic economic differs from conventional's economy is many ways. Islamic's first rule of economy is based on Al-Quran and An-Sunnah. The lecturer for this subject is Ustaz Nawawi. Well, he is very funny and he is not strict at all. He is simply an easy going person.

Secondly, the foreign language class which is BAB101. Surprisingly, I am taking Arab instead of Mandarin! I think Arab is a unique language and Mandarin is very common these days. At first I wanted to take Mandarin but too think of it, bit by bit the world has been injected with Islamic views lately. This is good for me to communicate with the world in the future. Plus, it is an advantage if I work in Arab countries. My lecturer for Arab is Ustaz Syazali Effendi. He does not teach that much but he loves to talk about his experience when he was young.

Thirdly, BEL311 which stands for is my third semester taking English in UiTM. This semester is different from the other two semesters because BEL311 focuses on writing. This is because at the end of the semester most of our carry marks are base on a mini research called 'term paper'. So, my partner and I chose to do research on 'How To Manage Your Finance Since Young'. Some of the materials that we used are like books called 'Rich Dad Smart Dad' and 'The Millionaire Mind'. Well, my lecturer for BEL311 is Mr. Izuan Ismail. In class, he will always remind us on the importance of writing well in English.

Fourthly, ECO211 which stands for Macroeconomics. This subject only require three credit hours and it is a subject totally all about economics of the world but Macroeconomics is more to studying the aggregate behaviour of the entire economy. Whereas, Microeconomics studies individual economic units in detail. To master Macroeconomics, you have to understand what Microeconomics is all about.

Fifthly, FIN262 which stands for Fundamentals of Finance. This subject require four credit hour and this makes it my hardest subject this semester. FIN262 is a subject that combines theory and calculation which makes it a mixture of Accounts and Economics subjects. At first, I thought it was a really hard subject but after awhile it only takes focus and a lot of exercises to master it. I hope I'll get an A for this subject!

Sixthly, QMT216 which stands for Introduction to Statistics. This subject require three credit hour and this is totally a calculation subject. Statistic is one part of the subject, Mathematics. To score this paper, I need to do a lot of exercises and never forget the formulas. This is my second Mathematics subject for my course. The lecturer, Miss Arfah is a new lecturer in UiTM Segamat. This is her second semester teaching here.

Lastly, HKB112 which stands for Drama which is my last co-curriculum subject. Last semester I took Public Speaking and I did well for it. I chose Drama because I have an experience in traditional dance. Plus, Drama does not involve any sport or outdoor activities, it is more to indoor activities. My lecturer for this subject is En.Naza, who used to be an assistant director of short dramas in Kuala Lumpur. He is a young lecturer who is funny and a laid back person. So I guess, that is it for tonight. Goodbye!

Life Being A Senior

Hello precious readers, I hope all of you have enjoyed reading my previous posts. Just so everyone knows, the whole UiTM is having our advance mid semester break due to the latest unstoppable virus, H1N1. This virus has been spreading all over the world and it can cause death. So to everyone do take care of yourselves. Well, even we are on our break, I still have few tasks to do.

First of, this week I am going to tell you how does it feel being a senior in college! Honestly, I do not feel myself as a senior. This is because I am 18 this year and my age is the same as the freshies this semester. When I was in Part 1, there were only two juniors in my wing. At first, I was terrified but after two or three weeks, things went normal. So when I was a junior back then, all the juniors were encouraged to smile at every single person we bump into. It is a must to all juniors!

Somehow, when I am a senior now, I do not think seniority in college is necessary. It will only lead to unwanted social problems such as bully, chaos and fights especially among boys. Being a senior in this semester does not really feels that much different compared to previous semesters. To me, it does not matter whether I am a senior or a junior. The most important thing is we have to respect each other and treat everyone equally.

Well, seniority means respecting the elders. But this term has been misused by seniors in college. They tend to use the seniority power to take control of issues or decisions and even some use it for their own good. With this seniority power also, some seniors create uncertified rules and some of them even group the juniors into cliques. This is why I never think myself as a senior and even if I do, I will not take it for granted.

I guess this is it for this week, have a good holiday everyone :)

The Roommate

Hello readers, after an introduction of myself, today I would like to talk about someone whom I take as family in college. Well, this semester is my second year in UiTM and every semester our rooms in college are reshuffled according to our GPA, so this involves change of roommates too. Before introducing my roommate, I would like to brief you little bit about my college, Sempana Alam Buana (SAB). My college is divided into two sectors which are Block C and Block D. Block C is filled with rooms for two people. Whereas, Block D is filled with rooms for four people. Thus, I am lucky this semester because I am located in Block C. My room 118C is located at the first floor on the left. It is very near to the residential staff's house.

I hope everyone gets a clear picture of where I am staying in college. Next, let me introduce all of you to my roommate. Her name is Syafiqa bt Mohamed Hanafi and she is a senior. Her nickname is Ika. She is in Part 5 doing Investment Analysis. Ika was born on 16th of July 1989 in Kuala Lumpur and that makes her 20 this year. Then, to describe her is not that hard at all. Ika is short and chubby. She is also a girk who wears 'tudung' and spectacles. Next, she comes from a medium size family. She has 3 siblings and she is the eldest. This is why I look up to her as my big sister since I don't have one. Ika's favourite food is ice cream and she loves to drink Nescafe. If in a day, she doesn't get to drink it, she will not feel content. She is definitely a Nescafe addict.

Let's get to the part of when I started to know Ika. She is a friend of mine. We met last semester through our friend, Nawal. So when I got to know Ika was going to be my roommate, I was super excited! At least my roommate is someone that I have known before because it is not easy to stay with someone that you just met. So on the day when Ika came back to Segamat, when she arrived she was screaming when she knew I was her roommate. As usual, when Ika is back, it will be loud! Just so everyone know, she is one bubbly and loud girl. She will always have something to say. It would be a miracle is my room is all quiet.

I guess that is it for now. I hope you'll enjoy my entry this time!

About Me

Hello readers, this is officially my first post. So lets get to know a little bit of me. My name is Liyana Nazri. I was born in Kuala Lumpur on 20th February 1991 and that makes me 18 years old this year which is a year younger than the others in my batch. This is because my parents enrolled me into standard 1 when I was six years old. My zodiac sign is Pisces. Some say people who are born with this sign are natural lovers, mystical and artistic.

So lets move on, I love to eat Malaysian food! I think it is because Malaysian food has a lot of exotic flavours and it comes in different textures, types and tastes! Some of my favourites are like 'cendol', 'asam pedas' and 'roti canai'. Next my favourite tv shows are CSI and The Nanny. CSI is a good tv show because the show itself makes us think while wacthing it. Whereas, The Nanny is a family comedy show which I have been watching since I was five. Next on the list comes my favourite thing to do which is dancing. I started to dance classes since I was eight. Some of the dances that I'm pretty good at are like Gamelan, Balinese and Classical Malay Court dance. Then, my favourite actress is every guy's dream girl who is Angelina Jolie. I adore her because she is very edgy and ferocious. My favourite movie would be Pretty Woman acted by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. It is one of the best love movie ever acted by both of them.

That is me on the left dancing Gamelan .

Currently, I am studying in UiTM Segamat, Johor. I am a Banking student and I just started my second year last week. Segamat is a nice place to study because it is definitely far from the hectic life of the city. When I came here at first, I was not sure whether I will be able to survive in Segamat but so far after a year has passed it is not that bad. I told myself a change sometimes can make you a better person. The place, surrounding and situation doesn't matter if you want to succeed. It is yourself what matters most. That is why the important thing is, what you can make out of you.

Lastly, let's get to know my family members. My father's name is Nazri bin Othman and he is 48 years old. My mother's name is Mariamah bt Abu Hassan and she is 43 years old. Both my parents are bankers. My father works as a Consumer Head for the UOB's credit card centre. Whereas, my mother works as an auditor in RHB. My father is a very workaholic but my mother is not. Then, I am the eldest in the family and I have one little brother named Johan bin Nazri. He is two years old this year. The gap between the both of us shocks everyone, its around 16 years of gap. My brother is a very extraordinary little boy, even he is only two but he doesn't act and think like one. He's simply unpredictable.

Dearest father and mother.

The little brother, Johan.
